Manama, Feb. 12 (BNA): The Ministry of Education (MoE) said it had contracted with an overseas establishment to print English textbooks for primary third graders, said Director of PR and Media at the Ministry, Fawaz Al Shurouqi.
The ministry delivered the right material to include in the book, including the Arabian Gulf map. However, the Arabian Gulf map was replaced with another map inscribed in minute font as "Persian Gulf," he said.
The discrepancy was spotted at the time of distributing the textbooks to students. The ministry took the requisite action in this case fully obliging the establishment for the blunder. The representative of the establishment visited the ministry and offered its apology, he affirmed.
The establishment was obliged to re-print 17,000 copies of the textbook after correction of the error, according to Dr. Al Shurooqi. The rectified, re-printed textbooks have been distributed to the schools, he affirmed.
