Mubasher: France’s finance minister Bruno Le Maire said that members of the European Union (EU) should unite together and join other non-EU countries to take responsive actions against US President Donald Trump’s tariffs decision.
"I think the first is to have a common response from the member states from the European Union,” Le Maire told CNBC late Monday, noting that the EU welcomed talks with other countries to retaliate against these tariffs.
Meanwhile, Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau thanked the US President for “special consideration” but told CNBC that the decision would not affect the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
"We are also very worried about global oversupply, about China dumping and other places dumping their steel and aluminum and it's affected our workers here," Trudeau added.
On Monday, Trump posted on Twitter that commerce secretary Wilbur Ross would negotiate eliminating the large Tariffs and Barriers the EU uses against US.
