Manama, June 14 (BNA): Electricity and Water Affairs Minister Dr. Abdulhussain Mirza received United Nations Resident Coordinator and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Resident Representative Amin Al-Sharqawi and briefed him on the preparations for the training workshop for contractors and consultants for the installation of solar energy systems.
The minister said the second such workshop, after the first one in January, represents a positive step towards saving energy and contributes to creating new job opportunities. He praised the efforts of the Sustainable Energy Unit, in collaboration with the UNDP, for organizing the workshop.
Mr. Al-Sharqawi said the UNDP is working to support the Sustainable Energy Unit by providing necessary technical expertise to achieve the objectives of the National Renewable Energy Plan. He said this would support Bahrain in achieving comprehensive sustainable development goals and would be a positive step towards achieving Bahrain’s international commitments in energy efficiency and renewable energy.
