Mubasher: US President Donald Trump expected on Thursday that Iran would “at some point” ask for a deal with the US.
"Iran at some point will call me and ask for a deal, and we'll make a deal […] they are feeling a lot of pain right now,” President Trump said at a press conference after the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) member summit in Brussels.
Tehran is “treating the US with a lot more respect right now,” Trump said.
In May, the US president announced his country's withdrawal from the nuclear accord with Iran. The deal had entailed the lifting of economic sanctions in return for limiting its nuclear programme.
On a side note, Trump said he would ask Russian President Vladimir Putin for “info on Syria and election meddling” during their meeting slated for 16 July in Helsinki.
