Islamabad, June 26 (BNA): The death toll from the weekend explosion of an oil tanker in eastern Pakistan has risen to 153, local media sources reported.
The tanker crashed and overturned early Sunday morning in the city of Bahawalpur. Many people gathered around it to collect the oil when it exploded.
Dozens were also reported injured, the same sources said, adding that the death toll is expected to rise.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain cancelled the official celebrations of Eid Al-Fitr in solidarity with the victims, and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif decided to cut short his current UK visit and return to his country.
