Doha, Oct. 9 (BNA): Qatar has participated in the 39th General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) in Montreal, Canada.
Chairman of Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) Abdullah bin Nasser Turki Al Subaey headed the Qatari delegation to the meeting, according to Qatar News Agency (QNA).
The meeting discussed tackling the environmental impact of aviation and developing plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions resulting from the aviation activity around the world and its impact on climate change.
ICAO is seeking to reach an agreement among its 191 members, to fix emissions resulting from aviation activity at a level that would be reached in 2020.
The Chairman of QCAA voiced Qatar's support for the agreement, pointing that Qatar Airways, the National Carrier of the state of Qatar, owns a modern fleet which is considered to be the world's most environmentally-friendly, QNA reported.
