Kabul, May 22 (BNA): A spokesman for the Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said that the US drone attack against Taliban leader Mullah Akhtar Mansour "seems to be successful".
"The strike was done in agreement with Afghan authorities," the spokesperson added.
The Afghan National Security Directorate (NDS) also announc3ed that Mansour had been killed in the Dalbandi area of Balochistan province.
Earlier, US officials affirmed the death of Mansour and another Taliban member.
Mullah Akhtar Mansour assumed the leadership in July 2015, replacing Taliban founder and spiritual leader, Mullah Mohammad Omar.
