Manama, Feb. 14 (BNA): HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa today inaugurated the late HH Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa Mosque in Awali, the biggest religious edifice in the Southern Governorate.
HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, and a number of senior royal family members were also present.
HRH the Prime Minister said that his late father, the former ruler of Bahrain, HH Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, had given so much to his religion and people. He added that it is our duty to glorify the good deeds of our ancestors, noting the generous contributions at the regional and global levels of the late Shaikh Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who laid the foundations of the development march that is still progressing resolutely under the ear of HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
HRH the Premier expressed sincere appreciation of HM the King’s directive to build the mosque, highlighting the government keenness to build mosques and houses of warship in all governorates and to provide facilitations to assist them in playing their key religious role in disseminating the values of Islam based on work and coexistence among community members.
Their royal highnesses the Premier and Crown Prince associated with President of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Shaikh Abdullah bin Khalid Al Khalifa, and the senior royal family members present toured the mosque.
The mosque’ total building area is 6850 square meters. It comprises a prayer hall to accommodate 5150 worshipers, a number of Quran teaching rooms, in addition to a library and a 600 parking lot.
