Manama, Feb. 13 (BNA): Wife of HM the King, President of the Supreme Council for Women, HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, today received UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Marianna Vardinoyannis.
The SCW President reviewed Bahrain’s advocate for Bahraini women’s advancement in various areas in line with the royal reforms.
A presentation was given to review the Bahraini women's historical march and the establishment of the Supreme Council for Women in 2001 as a government institution responsible for the formulation of policies that promote women's affairs in the country.
The presentation also highlighted efforts to support family stability, the completion of legislation for Bahraini women’s affairs, in addition to the establishment of family conciliation office and family court.
It also pointed out the national model for integrating women’s needs in development, enhancing principles of equal opportunities in government and private sector institutions, as well as statistics on the Bahraini women’s accomplishments in various spheres.
UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador commended the Bahraini women’s achievements in various fields, noting the SCW keenness to lead the national efforts to champion women’s role in the society.
