Dubai — Mubasher: Emirates’ airline flight between Cairo and Dubai was damaged over the previous weekend after being forced to abort take-off due to an unauthorised vehicle on the runway, the Dubai government-owned carrier said in a statement.
The incident on flight EK 928, which was operated by one of Emirates’ Boeing 777-300 aircraft, took place on Saturday, 12 January, Arabian Business reported, citing Emirates spokesperson.
“Unexpected breaking at high speed caused damage to the tyres and the aircraft returned back to the terminal,” the spokesperson said.
Following the incident, all 364 passengers were evacuated off a flight from the Egyptian capital to Dubai and a replacement was arranged, which in return caused more than 8-hour delay.
“Emirates would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused but the safety of our passengers and crew is of utmost importance will not be compromised,” the spokesperson added.
He stressed that Emirates is collaborating with Egyptian authorities as they investigate the incident.
